Why organic?

All our medicinal and health foods are made from certified organic ingredients only. Why? Because organic foods are superfoods!

Nuts, seeds and spices are heavily sprayed in conventional agriculture and are extensively treated with insecticides, pesticides, herbicides and fungicides. The soils in commercial farming are depleted and nutrient poor due to the heavy use of chemical fertilisers, farming practises and mono-culture. Fertilisers also leach nutrients during the cultivation process.

Organic means that no pesticides and chemical fertilisers are used to grow the crop. Therefore foods are higher in minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are important plant-chemicals that have natural anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer activities. Organic also means that you are not ingesting any pesticide, herbicide or fungicide residues that remain on the food. These toxin and chemical residues accumulate in our bodies over time and contribute to the toxic ‘body burden’ impairing the body’s ability to function at its optimal best and its innate ability to heal itself from disease. Children are especially susceptible to toxins and chemicals as their bodies and organs are still developing.

Organically grown nuts and seeds are real superfoods! They are jam-packed with nutrients and healthy fatty acids that deeply nourish and satisfy your body. They deliver maximum nutrition without any nasties and are naturally full of amazing flavour. No need for cheating with sweeteners or MSG! Once you have become accustomed to the flavoursome taste of pure, clean organic food you won’t want to go back, we promise!

Nutrient-dense ingredients

It not only tastes great but our Paleo Granola also delivers lots of health benefits.

Almonds are rich in minerals such as magnesium, manganese, zinc, phosphorus, copper and are one of the best vegetarian sources of dietary calcium. Because they are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, almonds help maintain healthy cholesterol, promote brain and heart health, regulate blood pressure and help with weight management. Almonds are alkalising and rich in B vitamins including folate and contain very good amounts of vitamin E, an antioxidant that improve skin health and complexion. A true superfood!

Cashews provide copper and zinc which are important for the body’s antioxidant defences and energy production. They also provide manganese, a trace mineral important for blood sugar metabolism and magnesium which relaxes the muscle and nervous system.

Brazil nuts are rich in the mineral selenium which has important antioxidant activity all through the body. Selenium also supports healthy thyroid function and is needed for female and male fertility. Just 3-4 Brazil nuts a day can help optimise your body’s selenium levels.

Pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc which is essential for robust immunity, healthy male and female fertility, for breastfeeding and prostate health. It also supports healthy blood sugar levels and is especially important for people with diabetes or PCOS. They are also a good source of magnesium and the amino acid tryptophan, an amino acid that the body converts into serotonin, our happy and healthy sleep hormone.

Sunflower seeds are an excellent source of vitamin E, the body’s prime primary fat-soluble antioxidant with potent anti-inflammatory activity. Magnesium helps calm your nerves, muscles and maintaining healthy blood vessels. The phytosterols in sunflower seeds help promote a healthy blood lipid profile.

Sesame seeds are a rich source of calcium making them invaluable for dairy-free diets. They are also an excellent source of iron and magnesium as well as the trace minerals manganese and molybedum. The fats and phytosterols in sesame seeds promote healthy cholesterol and blood lipids.

Cinnamon helps to control and stabilise blood sugar levels. It helps reduce sugar cravings and insulin resistance, aids digestion, soothes IBS symptoms and has anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties.

Vanilla adds wonderful, sweet, exotic flavour and aroma. But did you know that vanilla also has traditional medicinal due to its natural anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties? Vanilla also gently supports digestion.

Coconut oil is one of the healthiest options when it comes to fats. The fatty acids in coconut are medium-chain-fatty-acids which promote energy production in the body rather than fat storage. Coconut oil is very heat-stable at high temperatures and therefore doesn’t turn rancid. It also possesses natural anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial activity.
